Important rare ancient oil painting on canvas high second half of the seventeenth century Baroque Period XVII. Large in size and historical importance. Canvas measures 115 x 84 with frame 134 x 102. The painting is a classic of the ancient pictorial representations The Crucifixion, The artist poses at the foot of the cross on the right Magdalene and Mary while on the right the apostle John. John and Mary Magdalene contemplate Jesus on the cross while Mary supported by Mary Magdalene is represented in a state of suffering with a face full of expression that suggests an almost mystical pain as if she wanted to abandon herself to sharing with Christ.
Jesus on the cross is carefully represented the body has soft lines of typically Baroque character.
